DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful powder glass hand painted bead necklace believed to be made in Ghanaian/Krobo Africa. The Powder glass beads are made of finely ground and pulverized glass pieces from broken and unusable glass sources which are then fused, shaped and polished. The powdered glass is mixed with dyes and poured into moulds. After heating and cooling, the finished beads are sometimes hand-painted with original designs.
Ghanaian/Krobo powder glass beads were formerly used as a trading currency, these beads are named after the region where they’re made. They’re possibly the most popular African beads. These beads are so delightful and would make an excellent addition to your collection
CONDITION: The necklace in in good vintage condition with just four beads having little chips from the edges which do not detract from the overall look and beauty of the item.
