Pearls come in two types - natural and cultured. Although natural pearls are more expensive, both types are beautiful and grow in the same way. The process involves an irritant such as a tiny pebble or a bead implanting itself in a mollusc like an oyster or mussel, and the pearl growing around it. Natural pearls rely on luck, whereas in cultured pearls, pearl farmers insert the irritant. Pearls come in various colours, not just the classic white. Other available colours include pink, blue, green, golden, grey, and black. Pearl jewellery can take many forms, such as a matched string, pendant, earrings, or ring. However, due to their fragility, it's important to handle pearls with care, especially when wearing them as a ring. Men can also receive a gift inlaid with mother-of-pearl for this anniversary.
