Stanley Fuller’s Spiral Slide Rule – Very Early Model, Boxed with Handle Inserted
A marvel of Victorian ingenuity and craftsmanship, this exquisite spiral slide rule by W.F. Stanley is a rare and refined example of early scientific instrumentation. Housed in its original wooden case, this very early model features the distinctive handle elegantly concealed within the body of the rule—an innovation of both form and function.
Crafted with precision and purpose, the rule’s delicate logarithmic scales spiral gracefully around a central cylinder, offering over 500 inches of calculating surface in the palm of one’s hand. It speaks not only to the intellect of its age, but to the hands that once used it to navigate the complexities of engineering, mathematics, and exploration.
Time has lent it a quiet dignity—its polished brass fittings, finely inscribed scales, and warm timber casing echoing the scholarly spirit of a bygone era. For the collector, historian, or lover of scientific heritage, this is more than an instrument—it is a symbol of precision, perseverance, and the pursuit of knowledge.
A rare and beautiful piece, preserved in splendid condition. A true heirloom of innovation.
