Queen Elizabeth I was known for her love of pearls and wore them often. During the 16th century, pearls were so highly prized that laws were passed to prevent anyone other than the nobility from wearing them. In the 17th century, the popularity of pearls began to decline in Europe but was still highly prized in Asia. In the 19th century, pearls made a resurgence in popularity as a result of the Industrial Revolution. The invention of cultured pearls made them more accessible to a wider range of people. Today, pearl jewelry is still a popular choice for many people. Cultured pearls come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors and are used to create beautiful pieces of jewelry.
