A Turn-of-the-Century Treasure – Ruby & Sapphire Brooch in 15ct Gold


A graceful echo of Edwardian elegance, this exquisite handmade brooch, circa 1900, is crafted in rich 15ct yellow gold and features a refined three-stone design. At its heart, a vivid round synthetic ruby—measuring 7.4mm—glows with a bright, mid pinkish-red hue, artfully daw set to command attention.

Flanking this vibrant centrepiece are two shimmering colourless synthetic sapphires, each measuring 6.85 x 4.95mm (totalling approximately 3.50 carats), their clarity and brilliance a striking contrast to the ruby’s warmth. Together, the trio is finely mounted along a slender 0.86mm flat gold bar, the composition both delicate and balanced.

Secured with a C-clip steel pin and a dainty safety chain, the brooch weighs a graceful 4.94 grams—a testament to both its lightness and fine construction. Elegant and timeless, it captures the spirit of its era, blending old-world craftsmanship with the early 20th century's fascination with lab-created stones.
